"Thanks for the use of the medical equipment while I was recovering
from my fall. I know that we paid a processing fee for these
items, but the cost was so moderate. What a kind and generous
mission. You must touch many lives in a gentle way while going
through a difficult time.
Medical Equipment
How long may I keep the
equipment?
Most people have
short-term needs - a few weeks or months. Some items are for
short-term loans, however you may keep most of the equipment up to a
year.
How can I contribute?
The H.E.L.P. program
depends on the generosity of others. Most equipment donations
come from individuals who no longer need the items. Cash
donations are also accepted to help purchase those items in high
demand. Donated items are deductible when itemizing deductions
for federal income taxes.

The items we DO NOT ACCEPT
are:
- Items that are not in good working condition;
- Items that are unique in it’s need and has very low demand;
- Pediatric medical equipment;
- Anything that has expired;
- Opened packages;
- Any item that needs a prescription to obtain;
- Items that are customized to fit (back braces, prosthetics, etc.);
- Medications;
- Stair glides or other large equipment that must be installed in a
home;
- Broken items;
- Items that do not have the necessary battery;
- Item is not specifically for a medical need;
- Item that is used only for exercise equipment (treadmills, etc);
- Trach, ostomy, feeding tubes (currently have an overstock of these
items).Are donations tax deductible?

The Help and medical Equipment Loan Program(H.E.L.P.) began loaning
medical equipment because everybody needs access to bath chairs,
crutches, wheelchairs, hospital beds...at some time in their lives.
The problem is that not everyone can afford it. For those who
have little in the way of money, and too little or no insurance, yet
do not qualify for Medicare or Medicaid, just figuring out how to
pay medical bills is overwhelming. HELP assists many
individuals to obtain these items of comfort and necessity at a
level they can afford.
Most HELP clients stop in or have a relative pick up necessary
equipment. Additionally, clients frequently pick up equipment
that they expect to need after an upcoming surgery, anticipating
support equipment that they may need. We also deliver and
pick-up the loaned medical equipment for clients who haven't any
means of transportation. Medical Equipment
Because the majority of our clients are already facing financial
struggles due to being un- or under-insured, not having a job that
supplies insurance, and being recently released from a medical
facility, locating and acquiring a piece of affordable medical
equipment is frequently one more hurdle for them. Finding what
is needed without having to pay top dollar for a brand new item is,
as one client explained, "The only good thing that has happened".
