The Senior Services program provides services and resources to
homebound adults and caregivers of chronically ill and homebound
frail adults. Studies have shown that 65% of older persons with
long-term care needs rely exclusively on family and friends to
provide assistance. And for those loving caregivers, 63% rate
emotional stress and 44% rate financial burden as reasons for their
own health decline. The services offered through HELP Adult Services help decrease this stress.

Many caregivers are aging themselves, yet find themselves caring for
others and often neglect their own health concerns. To help
counter the stress and strain on caregivers, the Senior Services
program at HELP Adult Services provides respite services and
resources to homebound adults and caregivers of chronically ill and
frail adults.
Respite volunteers provide a helping hand, encouragement to remain
active, and assistance with important daily tasks. Volunteers
do not provide any medical services. They receive training on
how to be a respite volunteer and provide respite care for 2 to 4
hours a week.
As one respite family explains, "My mom loves the company and the
conversation. It doesn't seem like such an endless chore to
take care of Mom. I think I am doing a better job by having a
break now and then. Thank you so much."

Respite Connection
The Respite Connection
service utilizes volunteers who spend two to four hours a week with
a person whom is homebound and has a family member as a caregiver.
This program volunteer provides companionship to the homebound
individual while giving the caregiver an opportunity to refresh
their energy to continue caring for their loved-one in their home.
The volunteers share their time by reading, playing cards, or just
visiting with the client, but do not provide any medically necessary
services.
